ABOUT MIDGE
Thank you for visiting my website. I am a Certified Counsellor with The Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (Registration # 2384). I have a Master's degree in Counselling from Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.
I immigrated from Seoul, Korea with my family when I was 5 years old and grew up in East Vancouver, playing with children from diverse cultures. From a young age, I loved hearing about people's stories as I was genuinely curious about how others thought and felt. This natural curiosity led me to study Psychology at Simon Fraser University.
In 1994, while on vacation in Mexico, I met my husband and moved to Nunavut where we lived for 7 years. We lived in 5 different communities in Nunavut and NWT and then moved to Nova Scotia where we called Hammonds Plains our home for 6 years. In 2007, we moved back to beautiful British Columbia and currently, I live in Delta with my family.
Living in different parts of Canada and travelling the world, I've realized that regardless of the package that we come in, we want to feel connected and live life with a sense of purpose.
I have over 20 years experience in this field, having worked for non profit agencies as well as government. The best part of this sacred work is the invitation along clients' journey and the witnessing of their inner dialogues, their fears and their dreams. Collectively, their gift to me is the realization that at the core, this is what being humans is about. Facing and shedding our fears is the path to realizing our dreams and ultimately, our potential.
Here are some struggles that brought past clients into counselling that I have had the previlege of working successfully with:
Anxiety (including panic attacks), Sadness and Depression, Stress and Excessive Worrying, Difficulties with Family, Friends, & Co-workers, Grief & Loss, Anger Issues, Parenting, Childhood Abuse, Trauma, Guilt, Self Defeating Behaviours, Self Harm, Low Self Esteem, Identity Issues, Cultural Issues, Spirituality, Career & Life Transitions.
Counselling can be more than just surviving with the above issues, I believe that with counselling, life can be about thriving and living life on purpose. Counselling can be feeling good from the inside out. This feeling will be your point of attraction.
I look forward to connecting with you.
